Detailed Description
These German-built railbuses were delivered in April 1958 and initially operated on the Maldon, Braintree, and Saffron Walden lines. The last working example was withdrawn from service in August 1967 and four survived into preservation. This model is an improvement on the previous version first produced by Heljan in 2012.

I had one already, an early release - and no, despite the noise from the motor - it was not sound chipped! I didn't NEED another one but how could I leave it, so cute - despite killing off the last GER E4 2-4-0? This one is super smooth but the glasshouse design just screams for a crew and a crowd of passengers - more expense!

Very impressed with the model. Build quality was good and I couldn’t believe how heavy it is. Runs well, perhaps slightly faster in one direction than the other, but no biggie. Paint finish is fine.
A couple of minor gripes. Under DC, there’s no way switch off the internal lighting, nor is there any way to change the destination blinds. These don’t detract that much from the model though.
An exceptionally wonderful looking model and really good runner. Terrific value for money. A great asset to my end to end sections of my layout
It is fine runs well was a pain to get the body off having to pry the bottom of the doors out is not a good idea and its a bit noisy in reverse

I remember number 3 and 4 when they were trailed on the Haltwhistle to Alston line in the NorthEast in the mid 60’s.The Heljan model brings back a lot of memories! The model itself is a very nicely detailed and runs well. At the current sale price it is an absolute bargain! A bit of a challenge if you want to fit a decoder or sound but can be done with care and patience. Recommended.
. This (all green) one runs extremely well. I have a second one - yellow ends - which needed a bit of lubrication before it would run as well.
Very good value at its new reduced price,a good runner and a pleasing addition to my fleet.
