These OO scale street lights are praised as "excellent value" with traditional gas-lamp styling. Customers said they're "nicely made" with solid quality and plug-in base design. Ships quickly and well-packed. Some noted instructions could be clearer regarding voltage specs and assembly, particularly removing the base cap and avoiding pushing electronics down.
I was lucky to get a 30% off code in the recent spin the wheel thingy. But then I couldn't find anything of enough interest to me to use it on. But then I came across these lovely looking lights so bought (hopefully!) enough to give gentle gas style lighting. As is customary with Accurascale orders, they arrived quickly and well packed.
A couple of small bits - it would be helpful to have more information on the box, such as it says 12-16v. The leads are black which makes me *think* it can be AC or DC, but not something I want to find out the hard way! A little diagram showing you have to remove the cap from the base to allow it to plug in - it's quite a tight fit so I was a little concerned if was doing it right. Finally, watch out when you push the lamp into base as it can push the electronics down the base moulding As long as you are aware of these couple of bits, you should have no issues at all.
Two nicely made lamps in each box with a plug in under board staff system with the wiring loom built-in. The box power rates them as DC 12-16 volts. These three boxes will give my ordered Heljan Local Railway Station kit six lamps to illuminate it. It will look great once I have it all finished.
Excellent Value and Superb Quality
These Old Style Street Lights in blue are excellent value for money. At £12.95 for a twin pack, they offer a level of quality and detail that is hard to beat. I have purchased several sets already, and as I continue to expand my layout, these will be used to provide lighting for the new station section I am currently building. They look great, suit the period style perfectly, and add a really effective finishing touch to the scene.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to add realistic, good-quality street lighting to their OO scale railway layout.
For £12.95 a pair direct from Heljan, these Old Style Street Lights are excellent value. They have a traditional gas-lamp look which works very well for my steam-era OO layout, especially around stations, platforms and street scene areas.
The lamps feel solid and well made, without the overly plasticky look some scenic lighting can have. I also like the plug-in base design, which should make installation easier.
I bought six pairs for my station areas and, so far, I’m very pleased with them.
