The Class 47 is one of the most mass produced locomotives of the BR Fleet. These locomotives were designed and built between 1962 and 1968 by Brush Traction and British Rail Crewe Works. They were used all over the western region hauling passenger services and can still be seen running up and down the country with special services.
MECHANICAL
- Powerful 5-pole, twin shaft motor with two brass flywheels providing drive to both bogies
- Four axle drive with ‘floating’ middle axle for smooth riding qualities
- Diecast metal chassis block
- Precision gearboxes with gearing arranged for prototypical running speeds and haulage capability

DECORATION
- Minutely researched and applied liveries on all models, based on archive photos and comments provided by acknowledged Class 47 experts
- Multiple paint applications employed on each model using colours based on original paint specifications
- Logos, numerals and text added as appropriate using multi-stage tampo printing using authentic typefaces, logos and colours
- Painted wheel faces to eliminate toy-like shiny effect of chemically blackened wheels
- Colours based on official BR and train operator paint references and painting instructions.

OO Scale DCC Sound Fitted locomotive praised for excellent sound quality and value. Customers said it "runs beautifully and looks great" with "fantastic price." Most reported smooth operation, though issues included confusing lighting instructions, derailment from misaligned wheelset, and buffer beam details requiring modification for couplings.
Good looking model, especially at these current prices, only issues are the pre fitted pipework on the coupling end and the snow plough is a tad too low. One of the body screws you have to take out to attach the snowplough had been over tightened
Great looking model and great sound
This is a great addition to my collection, sounds great, and a fantastic price.
You cant go wrong with a plain old BR all over Blue its how I remember them. Really pleased with the loco and sounds great
Loco derails in one direction due to middle wheelset not sitting true. Handrail loose on one cab end. Disappointed with my purchase :-(
Runs and sounds great, paint finish excellent, no lose parts, only down side it the buffer beam details which I will have to cut down to fit coupling. Would be nice to have the option of the pipe work to be shorter so can work with a couplings that goes for all manufacturers. If it is your first order and you have signed up to their mailing list just check you get the 10% pff first order as I didn’t.

The Cl47 is superb just like the ones i worked on at Sheffield Midland on St Pancras expresses, Sound is exceptional down to the handbrake being wound off or on! Price superb thankyou Heljan.
Great model, great price
Thought I could live with the shape but alas I can't. Compared to the competition (existing and upcoming) it just doesn't capture the essence of a 47 in blue. Maybe if I'd picked a "black window surround" livery it would be less noticeable - shame as the mechanism and sound files are first class. I'm sure once sold through, Accurascale will look to a Mk3 Heljan version with a revised bodyshape but for now its only two stars
Happy with the model and like running it.
Couple of quibbles .. had to pull off pipes and chains to add couplings and it took me some time to work out how the lighting worked, none of the 3 info sheets provided agreed with each other or actually helped get the lights working on my DCC system!
Lovely model. Runs beautifully and looks great. Great value for money and the sound is good as well. A worthy addition to my fleet of reliable Heljan locos. I am a big fan and feel some reviewers are very unfair on Heljan.

I really like this model, runs well sounds great. Only criticism is please only put the detail on one end. It’s a shame toremove it from one end.
