Produced between 1960 and 1962, The class 45 were built as a collaboration between British Railways' Derby Works and Crewe Works and were a stable part of mainline traction on the Midland Mainline right up to 1982 when they were used for secondary services after the introduction of the HSTs.

Customers praised this O Scale locomotive for its exceptional detail, accuracy, and realistic weathering. Most noted it's "incredibly heavy" with "impressive slow speed control" and "powerful pulling 9 coaches." While highly rated for value and performance, some mentioned the weight requires careful handling as parts can break, and track defects may cause derailments on curves.
Good looking, heavy (I mean heavy!) engine. Bought on a whim with the Heljan price drop and it was great value. Really heavy loco so you have to be very careful when handling as bits will come off if gripped hard (I broke off a white pipe assembly above a bogie and had to re-fix, also a cabside handrail is dislodged I notice!).
The one thing I've found running the model is that it exposes even the slightest track defect on curves with the leading wheels often coming off due to twist faults on my 1% curved inclines.
I bought the analogue DC version and it has impressive slow speed control - the red tail lights illuminate at the leading end which is a bit annoying.
Overall a very good addition to my fleet which I am very happy with.
The model is excellent with great detail and the weathering just gives a touch of realism.
It’s a good smooth runner and the ability to convert to DCC and sound is an added bonus

I am bit unsure as to how to change the lights from red and white being both on to only one being on as to the direction?

Absolutely brilliant
Superb loco and incredibly heavy - so much so in fact that I'm having to consider steel baseboard reinforcement ! Both 45033 and 45110 with their Tinsley embelishments were must haves for me, as I had hauilage behind both several times from Wellingborough to St Pancras in the 1980s. Highly recommended.
