Detailed Description
Detailed Description
The British Rail Class 24 diesel locomotives were built between 1958 and 1961 by the British Railways at their famous Derby Works. Designed as part of British Railways’ Modernisation Plan, they handled mixed-traffic duties across the UK. Reliable but modest in power, many later moved to secondary services before withdrawal during the late 1970s, with 97201 living on at the Railway Technical Centre, Derby.
Our Class 24 is a highly detailed O scale model of this classic British Rail Type 2 diesel. Featuring twin motor flywheel drive, etched grilles, directional lighting and DCC compatibility, it offers powerful performance and exceptional realism, making it an impressive addition to any O gauge model railway layout.

Customers praised this O Scale model for its "perfect shape" and "first class finish." Most found it runs "very well" and is "almost silent." Offered at an "excellent price," though one customer reported a minor glue pip and inconsistent starting in one direction. Overall, shoppers were highly satisfied.
My new Heljan class 24 is a very fine model. The shape perfect and the finish first class. It runs very well and is almost silent. I have since bought the class 45 as well.
Beautiful model, nice runner
A very nice looking model at an excellent price, however, there is a small glue pip on one cab side. I tested it on a yard of track and it starts perfectly in one direction but falters, once, when starting in the other direction. I would have liked a replacement but the model is out of stock.
Excellent model, really happy to get it
Very good
