Built in 1958, the class 122 diesel railcars were primarily used for suburban work on the London Midland region and some even made it as far as running on Scotish routes. This design of single car units were nicknamed "Bubble Cars" by railway enthusiasts. In 1968 some of the Class 122 units were converted to carry parcels and reclassified to Class 131.
This model features a high level of exterior detail, a powerful motor and a fitted interior. A great addition to your BR Era model railway.

Another excellent model from Heljan, looks great when used on its own as well as with the Heljan 150 driving trailer. Paint finish superb, and running qualities fabulous even though I haven’t yet had a chance to run it in. The price now reduced makes O gauge much more affordable to the average O gauge modeller - and the Heljan 122 is a bargain!

Arrived wrapped only in its outer box. I had bought a class 150 a couple of days before which had a second box - much more secure. Needless to say the 122 had a number of loose/broken parts which had to be re attached. The body had to be removed to re attach a loose drivers seat. The wires between the destination boxes and the circuit board are much too short (a typical quality Heljan issue on many of their models) making it impossible to safely lay the body next to the chassis without removing the connecting plugs - itself not an easy task without damaging the wires. Having said the above, it remains great value at its current price. I have great faith in Accurascale who I am sure will address the fragility of this model if it is to be re released in the future.
