Built to replace the legendary Lancashire & Yorkshire 0-4-0ST 'Pugs', this class of 20 short wheelbase 0-4-0 diesel-hydraulic locomotives was based on a standard industrial design. Delivered to depots in the north west of England for shunting tightly-curved lines around docks and goods depots, many were sold into industry in the late 1960s and subsequently preserved to enjoy a third life at heritage railways.

Customers praised this OO gauge locomotive as "the most smooth-running and responsive model" they've seen. It "runs beautifully" on DC, handles pointwork faultlessly at slow speeds, and is DCC sound ready. Shoppers loved the excellent detail despite its diminutive size. Minor issues noted: buffer beams slightly misaligned, and one customer couldn't activate cab light with wand.
Finally done an extended running in of my oo gauge 02 shunter. It runs beatifully on DC - even over standard setrack points - without stuttering. A bit of an anomaly with the instructions claiming the couplings are held in place with nem pockets wheras they actually need to be screwed in - but they work smoothly so no issues.
Great little shunter - recommended.

This just has to be the dinkiest little shunter ever produced. It makes my Heljan 07s seen positively huge in comparison, but it is DCC sound ready. Incredible!
Lovely loco, nice little runner
This is a lovely little shunter. It is not yet fully run-in but it already copes with my standard points. Delivery was within 24 hours which was great and very efficient although I was not needing it for a deadline.
Beautiful little loco. Runs quietly. All lights work apart from the one on top of the bonnet. Probably a bit much to expect on a loco this small. Pretty easy to gain access, if you follow the instructions, to DCC chip it or add crew to the cab. Pre fitted speaker is a good idea, perhaps if a secon run is done a pre fitted stay alive would be good. Worth every penny.

This is my second class 02 superb model easy decoder fitting and excellent level of detail.

Probably the most smooth-running and responsive OO-gauge model I have ever seen. Works faultlessly at slow speed over all pointwork without any loss of power over short dead sections. Captures the essence of the diminutive prototype really well.

Lovely little loco, in sensible sized packaging that doesn't take up loads of room. The buffer beams seem a little out of vertical to me, but look as though they unscrew and a little packing might correct this. Otherwise assembled and decorated very neatly. Running quality good.

Great model at the price
A great little loco - worked well straight out of the box (surprising how rare that is). Definitely one of Heljan's best.
A truly superb model, that runs like a dream. Fantastic value considering the detail and running qualities. Very quick and well packed delivery. If you need a small shunter for your layout, then look no further. I have now purchased this model & a weathered 02 version and I'm delighted with both of them.
I'm reasonably pleased with this shunter. It looks really good and runs quite well over points. However, I can't manage to use the cab interior light using the wand.
Model looks good but cannot fully test yet as I have run out of Next18 decoders
I ordered it for one of my friends and I saw him today and he was impressed when he saw it and when he put it on his layout he said it was a lovely runner and said that it was one of the best locos he had bought.
