BR’s standard 25kV AC elektriske lokomotiv fra slutningen af 1960'erne, udviklet ved hjælp af erfaringer fra de tidligere ‘AL1’ til ‘AL5’ klasser. En håndfuld ‘86’ er stadig i brug i dag både i Storbritannien og i udlandet. Denne seneste variant har en række forbedringer i forhold til vores tidligere Class 86, herunder separat skiftbare baglygter i DCC-tilstand. Den fokuserer på de tidligere oversete blandede trafik ‘86/4’ og godstog-‘86/6’ underklasser, der blev modificeret fra midten af 1980'erne og frem.
Modellerne leveres med enten en Faiveley (*) eller Brecknell Willis højhastigheds (+) pantograf.

This OO scale locomotive model receives high praise for its smooth, quiet running and excellent detail. Customers said it's "fantastic" with "silky smooth silent running" and great low-speed control. Many noted the bargain pricing. However, some reported difficulty removing the body for DCC decoder installation, with parts detaching during the process. A few handrails arrived loose but were easily reattached.
My second Heljan class 86. This one bought with the 30% summer discount.
An absolute steal at £70 - runs beatifully - can't fault it.

I'm not a sparks effect modeller, but this version so reminded me of my train spotting in the 1970s I just had to have one. It's a fabulous model,, and alongside my 104 I fear I'm moving north :)
Really pleased with the Heljan Class 86 BR Blue 86011 in OO scale overall. The BR Blue finish looks smart, the model has a solid quality feel, and it runs smoothly. My only real criticism is the shiny metal pantograph, which looks a little too bright and toy-like for my taste. I would personally prefer a darker or more realistically coloured pantograph, although I can see why some modellers might like the metal version for durability and detail. Apart from that, it’s a very good-looking electric loco and a strong addition to any BR-era layout.

Great model amazing price
I managed to get this loco for £69.99 direct from Heljan's website with a discount code, an absolute bargain. It arrived damaged, a wiper was detached and both front and rear handrails were detached. I don't blame Heljan for that, as the courier threw it over a garden gate. Easily fixed.
The good: the loco itself looks fantastic. I am very happy with the model and the level of detail, and the paint finish looks great. It is a quiet runner, with excellent running at all speeds. The pantograph mechanism looks sturdy too. Well done Heljan.
The bad: I wanted to fit a HM7000 DCC sound decoder. Getting the body off the model is a complete nightmare. The instructions say four clips and remove the body. The reality is that the body is very very tight on the chassis. I could not find any way of removing the body without damaging the loco in some way. Many exterior parts fell off in the struggle and one of the buffer beams bent. I have a reasonable level of experience doing this, and this is the hardest loco I have ever attempted. The body did eventually come off but required too much force. The HM7000 decoder fitted easily, and there was enough space for a decent speaker and stay alive. Upon reassembly I noticed the front headlights don't work in white, but do in red. I'm not sure whether I caused this or not, but I don't want to open it again.
In conclusion, Heljan have made this way too hard to open up, and they don't sell a DCC sound fitted version. I love the loco now, but I had to do considerable damage and then repair it to fit DCC sound. I would love some other Heljan locos, but this experience has put me off.

Great model, extremely smooth runner and nice to see the BR blue is an improvement on earlier versions that were a little too dark.
Not usually my era of modelling but was tempted after recent discount promotion from already bargain price, so glad I did, very good runner and while not an expert of the class it appears very well detailed. Cannot comment on body removal difficulty, as yet to fit crew/sound decoder. Only issue was one full width front handrail had come off but easily glued on with well defined fixing holes.
Lovely model, captures the character of these versatile AC locos superbly. And at a bargain price!

Excellent machine, until you want to fit a chip, then it is very, very difficult to get the body off, several fittings came off & had to be glued back on

Well it’s still in the box ive not had time to run it and i still need to get a dcc chip but upto now it is good value for the money
