OO scale locomotive praised for exceptional value at under £100. Customers said it "runs smoothly and quietly," with "highly detailed moulding" and "great DCC functionality." Most report smooth operation straight from box. Minor concerns include coupling compatibility and occasional excess oil on bogies.

A certain influencer seems determined to bash Heljan at every opportunity, but that has not been my experience at all. In fact, thank you Sam, because the negative noise appears to have helped push these models down to under £100, which makes them exceptional value for those of us who actually buy and run them properly.
I have found nothing but quality from the Heljan models I own, and this Class 47 is another excellent example. In fact, I now own eight of these Class 47s in different liveries, and every one has performed well. They run smoothly and quietly, look superb, and offer crisp detailing, solid build quality and excellent value for money. At under £100, 47137 is an outstanding buy and one I am very happy to recommend.

The OO gauge Class 47, in BR Blue, is very nicely detailed. The livery and overall paint work is sharp and accurate. Mine is a DC model, that after running in, has a really good crawl. Smooth runner too. I know there have been debates on accuracy versus prototype, which I can't tell, only seen prototype a few times in real life, this looks like a Class 47. A really good price for a top quality locomotive. Highly recommended.

Good Class 47 and at a very good price. Looks great on my layout running with a set of Mk1 coaches.
Worth getting a few while the price is £99.

I'm super impressed with my class 47. It's got plenty of great detail parts, with lights that come on at very low speeds on my analogue layout. The look of the loco, to my eye's captures that of the prototype superbly. It runs very smoothly, even straight out the box. I like it so much I'm going to buy another!

Another great value loco. Chunky and runs like a dream - a perfect layout loco

Heavy loco with big motor and dual fly wheels, at this price point. Love it. Far superior to Railroad models at this price!

Very happy with the purchase of this non sound version. Now fitted with 21 pin decoder and been running for 30 minutes. Has good low speed acceleration and the BR Blue livery is applied very nicely with the illuminated headcode just right amount of light and limited bleach of light through the black area of the domino headcode. The price of this model helps those on limited budget and by no means make this a budget loco. Far superior to any Hornby.( just my opinion)

Absolutely first class. Operated perfectly straight out of the box. I have over a 100 different models of all ages, condition and cost and this is probably the quietest most responsive model I have. Its only the basic dc version but for 99 quid whats not to like. I'm saving up for another shortly.

Heljan Class 47 in BR Blue with Domino Headcode arrived very quickly and superbly packaged in immaculate condition. This latest tooling is absolutely top-notch, easily equal to (if not surpassing) the Bachmann version. Highly detailed moulding with subtle roof panel differences across the range, highly detailed fan grilles exposing the separately fitted fans and improved headcode panel. A brilliant model at a fantastic price - would definitely recommend!

It is fine, but the Heljan coupling is wretched with other couplings.

This engine is extremely well detailed and runs beautifully straight out of the box. I have not added any of the extra details yet, but will as time allows; Very pleased with the purchase

Another classic BR Blue Heljan 47. Lovely locomotives. Takes you right back to the 80's. Good solid runners and great DCC functionality.

Runs smoothly and quietly from box, however one bogie was coveredin light oil.

The loco looks very good,a few issues for the purists out their, narrow body, loco sitting too low above bogies.
Detailing fitted to both ends of loco rather silly, one only would be better.
£99 very good price and it runs brilliantly on load 9 coaches.

I like this model, great performance straight out of box, and at a great price. Marked down slightly as fitting a coupling looks like it will be a bit fiddly,

Nice model.

Again, another smooth, highly decorated example of a Duff 47 in true BR large logo livery. Can pull any load of coaches or wagons at ease.
Highly recommended model and for the price - what is there not to like 👍🏻

Very impressed with the overall look of the loco - especially comparing it with photographs taken in the seventies. The proportions of the loco are spot-on and bear no comparison to first generation Heljan 47s (that I liked anyway!). These locos are a real bargain in comparison to the competition!

Smart looking finish. Ran smoothly straight out if the box and pulls well. Lights give that extra touch.
