This striking model recreates the unique appearance of 45055 Royal Corps of Transport as specially prepared by British Rail in 1982 to haul a Falklands War supply train. White tyres, yellow axlebox covers, silver buffers and bright red bufferbeams combined to create one of the most distinctive Class 45 liveries ever carried.
Presented in 1982 condition, the model features sealed-beam nose ends, air-brake equipment and plated bodyside details. Suitable for layouts from 1982 onwards, it can be paired with coaching stock, Speedlink freight trains and a wide range of BR-era traffic.

A great looking model. The livery is nice and crisp with no signs of bleed between the colours. Straight out of the box, it's a really smooth runner at both low and high speeds. Excellent crawl speed too! All this before running in and on less than spotless track! Lots of great detail, especially on the bogie frames. Excellent value for money.

The loco runs fine, but when I opened the box, one of the buffers came off, I have to apply glue for it to stay put. There is also complete comfusion of the loco number, I ordered a class 45 #45055, that is what showing on the order, when the loco arrived trhe box is showing 45503, although the name is right as " Royal warwickshire fusiliers", the actual loco is numbered 45104. I call it complete chaos !!

First the bad news... Model arrived with a detached buffer which looking at the packaging may not be a surprise as whilst the sides and bottom of the model are well protected, Heljan cheaped out on the box size and as a consequence there is little protection at both ends. Adequate but not outstanding.

Otherwise this is a completely brilliant model. Solid and detail is good enough . Motor is extremely quiet and the running is smooth and best of all and despite the bogie length, it goes faultlessly around my dodgy 2nd and 3rd radius trackwork. Indeed at present the scores on the doors are Heljan 3 ( class 33,45 47) - Accurascale 1 (class 37 - and only that because it goes round 3rd radius in one direction but not the other.... Curious!. Accurascale class 50 . Wont run . Im sure its because of the fine scale wheels and a stiff centre axle. Thus sloppy axles work on crappy track. . Now whilst i wont be binning my Accurascale beauties there is something to be said for the more agricultural approach of Heljan sometimes and given the bargain prices this model like others is a no brainer!
