Depicting a typical dual-braked, steam heat-fitted Class 45/0 of the mid-1970s to early-1980s, 45032 is a classic mixed-traffic locomotive. During this period, Class 45s remained widespread across the network, handling everything from passenger expresses to parcels and freight services.
Although still carrying its original nose design, 45032 displays several modifications including underslung air tanks, plated bodyside steps and boiler filler hatches, plus the replacement of the original headcode blinds with the familiar ‘domino’ dots.
Suitable for layouts from the late 1970s onwards, it looks equally at home hauling Mk1 and Mk2 coaching stock or a wide variety of freight formations.
