Klasse 02 - BR Grøn - Uden Nummer - O Skala

Third 02, this one to be renumbered 02003. Couple of small loose parts. Otherwise all good.

The Heljan O Gauge Class 02 is an exceptional, niche industrial-style model that perfectly captures the character of British Rail's smallest mainline diesel-hydraulic shunter. It is a heavy, robust model that looks magnificent on small, micro, or industrial layouts. I had many years ago a DJH Kit in 4mm scale of one of these locomotive and I just had to have one in 7mm scale and when Heljan released this model I put it on my wish list, having received the model I am most please with my purchase.
As I model to Scale 7 I have had to regauge the model to 33mm gauge, not as easy as some models in the Heljan range but not impossible to accomplish and it can be done without disturbing the quartering of the axles if you are careful.
My model ran like the proverbial Swiss watch straight out of the box, fitting a DCC chip was very straight forward as was adding a crew the finish of the model is well executed and as mine was un-lettered left me with only the numbering to add.
So far the only tiny criticism I would offer is that the light shows through the plastic of the buffer beams when the marker lights are lit and is visible when the loco is under a bridge or tunnel, a couple of coats of red on the buffer beams will no doubt cure this minor gripe. All in all an excellent model and incredible value for money at the current price

Lovely little loco runs well on dc and dcc - fairly heavy for its size.

Sadly model as a fault if using dcc decoder the shunting lights fail to light up i used esu decoder and a esu sound decoder both failed to show cab and shunting lights working heljan support as said they send new pcb board out im still waiting for the pcb board but they also sent out a returns label I'll wait until the end of this week to see if the promised pcb board turns up if not the retuning of the locomotive will be done next week has for the model its very good loads of pulling power detail very good

Runs Well Now fitted with sound

Great little shunter that runs superbly at slow speed. Bargain!

Arrived quickly (to Australia). Outer box was damaged but product box OK. Lovely model with no visible signs of problems, but no bag of accessaries was included and the direction lights did not work on DC (Not yet tested on DCC). Loco moves smoothly and is responsive on DC.

At current prices, this is a LOT of small-yard shunter for not-much money. The short wheelbase means you can run it anywhere, but the model still has a LOT of presence and character. It also has enough torque to shift prototypical consists, and does-so even over the rail-gappy old layout I use it on.
Had I paid the full original price, the detailing and finish would strike me as acceptable, but perhaps not outstanding; at current retail - bargain!
This example can be a reluctant starter with larger loads - the wheels need *regular* cleaning.
All told it's a very handsome model, and a very useful one. O-gauge layouts tend to be smaller, have tight radiuses and multiple points - and this is a great loco for those purposes, as well as for more conventional running.
Get one while you can!

A mixed bag. The front handrails are not modelled accurately, and a few detail parts were fitted crooked or fell off soon after purchase. The side rods have been cast from a soft metal and one rod was noticeably curved. Having straightened this up the model runs well. The presentation of the bodywork is excellent and the cab glazing is some of the best I have ever seen. The model is very good for the price, but I would prefer to pay more money for fewer compromises in the detailing and the chassis.
