97409 Lytham St Annes (BR Blue Weathered)
As Class 45 numbers dwindled during the late 1980s, four Class 45/0s received a temporary reprieve to work electrification and engineering trains on the northern section of the East Coast Main Line. Renumbered into the Class 97/4 series, these locomotives became firm enthusiast favourites.
Our weathered model depicts 97409 Lytham St Annes in 1987/88 condition, complete with Tinsley depot embellishments and painted nameplates. Ideal for engineers’ trains, departmental stock and freight workings of the period, it captures one of the most memorable chapters in the class’s history.

Superb looking loco and it performs really well. I've found the Heljan locomotives are more forgiving of any track imperfections which can be useful!
Excellent value . Good factory weathering, looking the part. Easy to fit DCC sound (HM7000). Running well and all lights working. Needs replacement couplings ( Kadees or magnetic). No need to remove any buffer beam detail.
This is an excellent model of an interesting era of the peaks.
I've fitted DCC sound on a Loksound 5 decoder utilising an EM1 speaker, with a little fettling, and it sounds fantastic. I've even added a couple of flashing detonators too. All in all a great model. I can't wait for the forthcoming Class 44
Absolutely brilliant model. It’s a shame this famous loco wasn’t preserved. I remember it well on the electrification jobs around the North East in the late 80s so to actually have it in model form is brilliant.
Nicely weathered and an excellent runner. An outstanding model indeed. Not to mention the price which is wallet friendly!

Fantastic model - beautiful detail, great weathering - heavy model and great motor. Would be 5 stars........
BUT, the model has huge flanges on the wheelsets and will not run on my US code 83 rails. Real shame, as my Heljan 128 runs perfectly with normal size flanges.
So, for now, she is relegated to shelf queen until i get UK code 100 rails for her
Very good value for money, I hope there will be a sound upgrade set released once the Class 44's arrive.

Great looking model, great on track performance, amazing value for money at £99.
I'm not an expert, but it looks every bit a Class 45. Great detail with minimum modelling compromise that is irrelevant from normal viewing distance. Great lighting package. Model arrived in perfect condition 36 hours after placing my order. Grab one while you can 10/10
